Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle approach to encourage a balanced state of being. One of the first explorers of the craniosacral system is physician William Sutherland. It was expounded upon by Dr. John E. Upledger.
The craniosacral system is in constant cyclical motion. It is possible to detect restrictions anywhere in the body due to the way tissues are integrated. Techniques are non-invasive and can produce effective, long-lasting benefits. It is a great way to balance energetic biorhythm and structural movements from the cranium to your toes on a physical and neurological level. This approach is a good fit for people that find deep tissue or more intense pressure unappealing due to its subtle application of techniques.
Sessions can be fully clothed.
It is a wonderful approach to jaw pain, migraines, concussions, neck tension, insomnia, depression, hip alignment, body aches, hormone production, and limitations of mobility.
People often feel lighter, refreshed and intrinsically good after sessions which incorporate Craniosacral techniques.
Release tension from the fascial system which pervades every structure of the human body.
Myofascial release techniques from John F. Barnes’ approach typically offer long-lasting relief from chronic tension, pain, holding patterns, injury, and mobility restrictions. It uses gentle, firm pressure to bring the body back into a state of structural alignment and homeostasis.
This approach is great for infants, pre- and postpartum mothers, youth, and adults of all ages. It is also effective for releasing physiological and psychological holding patterns.
Pre- and Postnatal Massage accommodates the physiological changes that occur during and after pregnancy. Receiving bodywork during pregnancy helps release pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy.
Structural integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body in relationship to the force of gravity. The theory underlying structural integration asserts that often the body's connective tissue is “bound up”, thus restricting opposing muscles from working independently of one another. Thus, we aim to loosen the restricted connective tissue by using a practice very similar to deep tissue massage. Practitioners typically prescribe a specific sequence of ten sessions lasting between 75 and 90 minutes in order to “unlock” the whole body.
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These “knots” are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Developed in the early 20th century to get wounded soldiers back on the battlefield, Russian Sports is considered to be one of the most non-invasive and relaxing forms of massage therapy. Combining aspects of both therapeutic and sports massage, it uses a variety of specific techniques to release stress and enhance circulation.
An approach developed by Wendell Doman to efficiently work-out tension in the myofascial system of the body. This style considers the dynamic movements of areas holding tension. It is an active approach that helps your body find greater freedom of mobility.
Tension can accumulate in the jaw creating headaches and stiffness in the face and neck. TMJ relief can help alleviate these strains, balance jaw movement, and increase mobility in the face, neck, and shoulders. This approach can be performed intraorally (inside the mouth) and/or extraorally (outside the mouth). Speak with your bodyworker about receiving intraoral TMJ techniques.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage therapy. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - “shi” (finger) and “atsu” (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Chi (energy) throughout the body. Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.
Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, I apply firm pressure directly to these “points” on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to be very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.
A hot-stone session with stones bathed in Rosebud-infused Organic Fractionated Coconut oil.
Hot Stone is a style of massage that uses polished river stones, heated to tranfer warmth deeply into your tissues to deepen relaxation and promote circulation. Areas that are heated with these stones release tension and stress more effeciently than with a conventional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
An Eastern modality fusion session incorporating Shiatsu, Acupressure, Thai Reflexology and Cranial-sacral. This session is performed on at comfortable mat. Combining these modalities enhances the flow of life energy, circulatory and lymphatic fluids, tissue condition and responsiveness, and biorhythmic synchronicity.
